Great onion rings, burgers, clam parts, fish, in fact everything is real darn good. Consistant, and the only complaint is no full bar. Also if you show up around 8 or so, the condo folks have left. Kids do well there.

So many years later and I still crave the food at Betty's. The scallops are no where near as large as they used to be, but they are still cooked perfectly. I can still taste the sea in every bite. And the firecracker sauce, why doesn't anyone else try this stuff? I don't know why it tastes so good, but it does. I order the firecracker chicken. I order the chicken strips tossed in the firecracker sauce. I dip my bread in the firecracker sauce. My mouth waters thinking about Jason's (Betty's son) concoction. I hope they stay open for years to come.

After reading some of the other reviews it would appear we came on the right night. Service was very good as was the food. It was a Saturday early evening (5PM or so). I ordered the full order of scallops (grilled) with onion rings and clam chowder. It was all very good. My wife ordered the half order of fried shrimp, my son ordered the half order of fried seafood platter, and my daughter ordered the chicken sandwich. Everyone loved the clam chowder, the onion rings and we each liked our meal. For desert my son ordered the banana cream pie and my daughter ordered some pumpkin / pecan crumble. We'll be back for sure.

Bettys is a cute spot on A1A with a great view of the ocean. The decor is definitely different but the food is home made and is delicious. They have a great burger , delicious potato salad, yummy fish and chips and their Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixins always hits the spot. My main problem with them is portion size. I'm by no means a fat man and every time i leave the restaurant I am unfulfilled but I continue to go gack. I'd prefer to pay more to get more

Betty's food is excellent. The portions are huge and the seafood is fresh. The Service is great as well. A great dining experience in a casual atmosphere. Would highly recommend Betty's A-1-A restaurant to all.

Service OK, but they are very busy. Awesome onion rings. Pasta sides awesome. Mahi dinner good. Baked shrimp and scallops good. Food served nice and hot! Seriously need to work on the wine list. Seriously! Please :-) pretty noisy. Would come back on a less busy night.

Thank ya-thank ya very much! While this is a quirky cute place with Elvis, angels, and hula girls--it's the perfect place for a night out--We had the best time!!! Great view, fast service, and excellent food! The best clam strips I've ever had--biggest, cooked to perfection, clams I've ever had! I've been to dozens of seafood restaurants in the area (our deck, north turn, crabby joes, bonefish, the golden lion) and you won't beat these clams! We ordered the full seafood platter with clams and the seafood cake appetizer! All of it was fan-friggin-tastic! The seafood cake will remind you of a crab cake only better-with big chunks of seafood and a horseradish dipping sauce! We also got the best (made in house) banana cream pie you'll ever eat as well as the pineapple upside down cake which was moist and delicious! Our waitress was pregnant too but she was workin' hard! Please don't go visit them--I don't want it to get busy-just go visit your captain d's or red lobster! We will be back soon!

This place is incredible, the staff is more than friendly and the food is homemade, but the best part has to be the dessert, Please if you are near Daytona beach you must stop here for a really great experience. A must visit for sure. Este lugar es increíble, el personal es muy amigable y la comida es casera, pero la mejor parte es sin duda el postre, si estas cerca de Daytona Beach debes detenerte aquí ora una muy buena experiencia. Es un lugar para visitar

A real family place with the very best of Southern goodies. Try the fried fish. If's hot, and crispy. Across the street from an open section of the ocean so you can walk the beach after a great food fest.

Absolutely delicious! I had the baked shrimp and scallop dinner which is served with mushrooms, bacon, green onion & roasted red peppers in a lemon butter garlic wine sauce. Absolutely amazing! My wife had the house made seafood cake dinner which was outstanding as well. Topped the dinner off with wonderful key lime pie. This was a great dining experience

  • David M.

The pictures of perfectly cooked onion rings on Yelp drew me in. I am so glad that they did. The food and service were both excellent last night. I started with a spicy shrimp appetizer that was perfectly seasoned and served with crusty warm bread. Followed this up with an excellent cup of traditional New England Clam Chowder. For an entree I had the half order of the blackened seafood platter and added an order of the fried full belly clams. The entree was amazing and way more food than I could have ever possibly eaten. The service was very friendly and efficient. We truly enjoyed our dinner here and we will be back. Lastly the most impressive thing about Betty's...it is spotlessly clean. So clean that you can notice it. How often do you see this? Nicely done Betty.

We brought a group of 6 and we all had something a little different so we could get a taste of the menu. We were not disappointed. The scallops were the best followed by a close second the shrimp. All the sides that we had were delicious and the two salads we had were also fresh with a good crunch and flavor.

    (4)
  • Jeremiah R.

The food was good, but not great. I had a seafood cake and my wife had crab salad, both of which were good, but they weren't spectacular. The sides and portions were underwhelming for the price. The location itself is quaint, but if you can find something that is actually beach front or that has a patio you might enjoy your meal more.

Friendly service. Seafood cake is amazing ! Large portions. Delicious ! Broiled Mahi dinner and broiled Mahi salad very fresh and flavorful.

  • Michael T.

A great place for a home-cooked dinner, a great view of the ocean and friendly staff. My wife and I had the special, which this evening was the Citrus Parmesan Mahi Mahi with Risotto and Zucchini. It was delicious and prepared so well. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant on A1A.

Always a favorite when in town! Their fried shrimp, onion rings and banana cream pie are amazing!!!!!! Also, if it's your birthday they have a fun parade.

I've been coming to Ormond Beach for a couple of decades, but somehow I have missed this gem until now. Bety's A1A Cafe is a small family owned restaurant . We were there for lunch. The dining area was clean, and the decor eclectic and appealing and I presume a reflection of the owner. The food was terrific. We had the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer which was cooked shrimp in a home made buffalo sauce with blue cheese served with baguette slices. I had the fried haddock sandwich which had a light crisp batter served with homemade tartar sauce and a side of hand battered onion rings which were excellent. My wife had the fettucine alfredo with chicken, and we agree its one of the best alfredos we've had. Our daughter had the blueberry pancakes which were a special of the day and were light and flavorful, almost crepe like, with fresh blueberry whipped cream on top. No syrup needed. All in all an excellent experience. We will definitely visit Betty's again. Probably this week.

  • Janet W.

Food great, but very noisy. Don't plan to carry on a conversation with your table mate.

    (3)
  • John A.

Had dinner here with a group. Two of us ordered the fried seafood platter based on reviews we saw elsewhere. As promised the portions were more than adequate, the seafood was fresh and the reading was very light. Based on this we plan to return.

  • Bob S.

Great food, Great service. Seafood platter and onion rings unbelievable, best cocktail sauce ever, really packs flavor and punch. Fried chicken tenders great and awesome green beans! FRENCH ONION SOUP!!!!! Best I've had. Will definitely return in the future!

Let me first say that we really like Betty's and have been there several times while vacationing in the Daytona area. Being from New England Betty's is the closest to home for fresh seafood especially whole belly clams. We first wanted a drink with dinner and asked about happy hours, not available. Now I know that happy hour is banned in some New England states but we are in Florida and almost every restaurant have happy hour! After ordering and having our salad delivered we asked for some bread or rolls. We were told that if we wanted bread it would cost $1.50 for a basket of bread. PLEASE, no bread or rolls with dinner! I'm sorry but this is not acceptable, we are always severed bread or rolls. We might need to ask but we get them. If Betty's is trying to cut costs don't server bread or rolls but if a customer asks for them, they should not have to pay for them. Just my $.02 and disappointed in Betty's.

    (4)
  • Evan S.

Excellent food and service! The seafood lump cakes and fried shrimp is unbelievably good and the friendly service can't be beat. The downside is the noise level. It does make it difficult to hold a conversation because of the loud rumble of general noise from all around. Overall a very great food experience and will remember this cafe next trip through the the area.

We go here every time we are in the Ormond Beach area... Love it. Incredible food, very friendly staff.

    (4)
  • Elizabeth A.

Crappy service with people who have no manners and are too blunt and in-your-face. Also, no menu on their site and when I called about it, they were very rude and acted like I didn't know how to use the site. Unprofessional. But, I will say the lobster bisque is great, just VERY over priced. Most of there stuff is over priced for quality they provide.

    (1)
  • Wwana D.

Used to love this place when it was affordable. Now you have to remortgage your house to pay for lunch for 2. Portions are very small now. Plus they make you pay for bread now! I understand people waste it sometimes when it's placed on the table. However if you request it knowing it won't go waste, they still charge for it. Senseless biz practice.

Let me begin by addressing the clam chowder issue. It's okay. So many reviews rave about it, claiming it to be second to clam chowder from Boston. Listen folks I lived in Boston for many years and my parents were true Bostonians, this was not even close. While there nice large pieces of clams and potatoes in it the broth was way too thin. It was a soup not a true chowder. It tased good but did not live up to expectations. I had the half grilled seafood platter. This comes with haddock, shrimp and scallops. The scallops were the best. My husband had the all you can eat fried haddock. The fried haddock was better than the grilled. But seriously what isn't better fried? Speaking of fried, what does live up the hype are the fried onion rings! They were amazing! We didn't have room for dessert but they looked fantastic and we are told they are all homemade. The service was good and friendly. I love the kitchyness of the place and how appropriately coastal Florida is feels.

  • Casey Q.

Hell raiser shrimp and crazy chicken Caesar Salad were both fantastic! Fresh and delish. I was more than impressed.

  • blue c.

Very good diner, great desserts. New England 50s/60s style diner right on the beach. We saw lots of what seemed like seasonal locals here. Probably get some bad looks if you referenced Inflategate. I'm guessing folks from New England come here to get a Tate of New England. Try it, and get some pie!

  • Helena H.

Our favorite neighborhood diner. Don't expect five star food, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Just simple and fresh. The servers are very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is homey with the kind of vibe you'd expect in a sea-side village. My husband says the fried shrimp is the best he's ever had. It's obvious they change the oil in the fryer every night. The specials are always special. No throw away ingredients here. Best seafood in Volusia County. We don't eat dessert, but they're all homemade and look amazing.

    (4)
  • Susan H.

Great food!!!! The entire group loved their meal! Bacon wrapped Scallop salad, Mahi salad, blackened shrimp & scallops. Highly recommend the Banana Delight dessert. All of the desserts are homemade.

    (5)
  • Sami Gary M.

I went with my husband here to have dinner. Everybody was super friendly, the waitress was very attentive and friendly. Our food was amazing!!! My husband order the mahi mahi blackened with a baked potato and beans. Mahi mahi was great he wanted seconds the baked potato was baked perfect and the beans where amazing. I ordered the shrimp with fries. And that was great to.

  • Sam C.

Once you get past the 1970s decor and the bengay convention, the food great and service pleasant and helpful. Really good lobster roll and fried seafood platter.

    (4)
  • Joe C.

Ordered the fish sandwich for 6.95 with a baked potato. They ran out of potatoes so we got the loaded potatoes as a substitute. Glad we did because they were excellent. Excellent food.

    (4)
  • Rhorie M.

Awesome portobello mushroom sandwich and onion rings. The homemade horseradish was great. My guests had belly clams and the haddock. They grew up in Massachusetts so they know good seafood and they were really impressed. We also witnessed a birthday and anniversary celebration. It was really a good gem in Ormand Beach!

  • Michele F.

Very good food. Great views of the ocean. Grilled salmon was tasty. Fried clams were great. Nice size portions. Thank you Kathy!!

  • Linda D.

The food was ok and the service fast, but it was pretty loud in there. The prices are high too. I just had fried shrimp and water and with tip it was $35. It was nothing special really, kind of reminds me of a fish-camp, sort of rustic décor and wait staff wearing t-shirts. The batter was light as someone else mentioned so that was good. It's across the street from the Ocean and at night you can't see anything anyway. I don't know that I'd go back. For that price I'd like a nicer restaurant.

    (3)
  • Tim C.

I made a reservation for 6.45 p.m it was pretty busy when I came so I expected to wait a for a little but which was no issue for me. After 20 minutes I went up to the counter again and asked what the status of my reservation was. Some old and grumpy lady who was in charge of the seating arrangement basically told me to wait or get out as soon as possible. So I decided to leave as soon as possible.

  • KL M.

Reasonably good dinner! Biggest disappointment was to learn that all of the seafood is frozen, except the clams! Clam chowder was good, not exceptional! I personally would not rush back!

  • Jenifer B.

It's like mamas cooking! The bomb so glad I can ride my bike to this place! Chowder is awesome and the food is great..

    (5)
  • Tony C.

Don't bother stoping. Food was not good. Staff was forgetting items and not listening to requests. Also if you want bread and butter be prepared to fork out $1.50 extra for it.

    (1)
  • Corey G.

Everything was amazing!! Between he group of 8 we had baked shrimp and scallops, seafood cakes, mahi mahi, scallop scampi, new york strip, and ultimate seafood platter!! Margie our waitress was awesome. Food was great, will definitely be back next trip to Daytona/Ormond!!!

    (5)
  • Neela G.

Lobster rolls for the win! Also try the penne pasta with the alfredo sauce, really really good! Must save room for desserts, and try a few of them, because they are all amazing. The server was also very friendly!

  • Sheon B.

After a long day on the beach we were looking for some seafood to devour. We Yelped and found Bettys Cafe. Betty's is a cool quaint place with a great view of the ocean. The service as excellent and the people here are so kind. We ordered the fried seafood platter and two cups of chowder. The chowder was good and the seafood platter was good as well. They serve a ton of food with this platter, so be ready to eat! The coating on the seafood could use some more flavor but it was good. Any time I am in the area I will stop by. Good food and good people!!

    (4)
  • Lisa M.

A hidden gem! Would never have stopped if I hadn't read the Yelp reviews, but so glad we did! Ribeye had amazing flavor, shrimp scampi was fantastic, and some banana desert that I don't remember the name of was to die for. Side of fettuccine alfredo was some of the best I've ever had. Don't pass it up thinking that it looks like an older dive!

  • Barbara S.

My husband and tried it for the first time tonight. We were very happy to have made this discovery. He had the fried clams, clam chowder and lobster roll. He said the Ipswitch clams were unbelievably sweet and tender. The clam chowder was thinner than some, but delicious. Who wants a spackeled soup, he says. The lobster roll was tender and ample and juicy in the proper top loading bun. Now for me...I can't eat most shellfish, so I had the broiled haddock. It was perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth delicious with some of the best tartar sauce I've ever tasted. You get 2 sides with it. I chose Caesar salad which was perfectly chilled and crisp and the dressing was good. My other side, for a $1 up charge was Angel hair pasta with a yummy red meat sauce. The pasta "side" was huge. My whole meal cost $10.95. Then our very nice waitress suggested the banana cream something made by Betty herself. It was huge and delicious. Close to half the tables have an ocean view. Seemed like most people there were regulars. I can see why it's so popular. We'll be back there again and again.

  • Bob S.

We picked this place randomly from the Yelp reviews. We were so glad we did! perfect place for lunch and yes, it's where the locals eat. We had the fish sandwiches and they were great! Don't know when we will get a chance to be in this area again, but we will always head to this place for lunch. Friendly staff with good food and the price is right. We did notice that all 3 people paying ahead of us did not leave a tip and they had no reason not too. Don't be a jerk, leave a good tip for the staff. I can't believe some people.

  • George G.

Great little place w/great seafood and desserts. The Mahi Mahi was delish and the made to order onion rings were the best. The homemade desserts ie; Banana Cream Pie will give your taste buds an orgasm!

    (4)
  • Lindsey P.

Great service! Very attentive staff! I highly recommend ordering the onion rings. I had the crazy Cesar salad with blackened shrimp, and it was outstanding.

    (5)
  • David P.

Betty's New England style fried onion rings, shrimp, scallops, and haddock are a taste of heaven on earth. The desserts - especially the banana supreme and the chocolate pie - as well as all of the sides are homemade and delicious as well. The view out over the ocean is gorgeous. I have been eating at Betty's since she first opened and have never been disappointed.

    (5)
  • David P.

Awesome food and service the coconut cream pie is the best pie I have ever had.

The service was excellent, I can not say enough about the fried shrimp . The batter was very light and shrimp tailless-yum!!!

Ate there for lunch and it was great. Friendly service and the food was wonderful. Had the crab cake sandwich and husband, a hamburger. Will be back!

Was so glad we found this place on a day trip up A1A. It doesn't look like much on the outside but stop and go in. You'll be glad you did, like we were. Bettys had good service and a warm atmosphere....the decor was cozy though the acoustics made the room pretty loud. Great food selection...and everything we ate was fantastic. My grandmother had a BLT (lots o bacon) and I had the lobster bisque and a seafood cake sandwich. Fabulous. The bathroom was decorated better than most I've ever seen. Kudos for attention to detail. Will definitely stop in again. Didn't love the prices but hey, it was right across the street from the beach.

  • Angela H.

Great little cafe off A1A! Service was a little slow. Food is pricey but very good. Got the fried fish sandwich and was great! Also has great view of the ocean

  • Lisa D.

My husband brought me to Betty's A1A diner because he had been there with a coworker a while ago. I must say I am hesitant to eat at independently owned restaurants and prefer the familiarity of a restaurant chain, but Betty's blew me away! We arrived 15 min to closing but they still seated us and waited on us as if we were the most important customers in the place. Everything was absolutely delicious! It was the freshest fish I had ever tasted and the Alfredo sauce was better than most Italian restaurants. The sweet potato fries come with cinnamon sugar and they are crinkle cut, my favorite! The wait staff was super friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Betty's to anyone who is looking for some good beachfront dining. If I could give it 6 stars, I would :-)

    (5)
  • D N.

New to the area and had high hopes based on some of the reviews. The lobster roll was not good. The lobster had a bad texture. We also tried the short rib dinner and that was not good. Clam chowder soup was ok. Bread that we had to pay 1.50 was ok. Pricing on items we had were high and were a big disappoint. The only thing that stood out was the view of the ocean.

    (1)
  • Amanda N.

The food was really good - we had the turkey dinner special. It was a huge portion, with turkey, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce for $12. The staff was great, very friendly.

  • Frank A.

I grew up just north of Boston and my family was in the restaurant biz. This place is the real deal. The chowder was great. I saw reviews bitching about it not being thick. My mom makes chowder with a thin broth, I love it. I ordered the seafood platter w Ipswich clams and onion rings. It was a religious experience for me. I felt like I was back home. My wife got fried Haddock and it was a Generous portion. I would go way out of my way to come back. Turns out they are from the south shore of Boston. They do it right. Ignore any negative comments. This place as the real New England seafood!

    (5)
  • Ed B.

Wicked good fried whole-belly New England clams. Yummy fresh Maine lobster roll. Great clam chowder. A real surprise across from a Florida beach! Highly recommend for homesick New Englanders.

    (5)
  • Justin M.

Went in for fish and chips.. It was delicious!!!! Some of the best fish I've ever had. It's an older diner but very well kept. This was made most apparent when I walked into the restroom to wash my hands before dinner - it was spotless (with some pretty cool memorabilia on the walls as well.) The servers were all very pleasant and attentive as well. A few days after our visit, I was playing pool at a bar down the road with which ended up being one of the cooks from Betty's. When I returned for their thanksgiving dinner he came outta the kitchen to say hello and asked us how everything was... Very nice people. Will return again, if and when visiting Daytona.

Once again, Yelp saves the day with a great place that I never would have tried if it weren't for others' reviews. Betty's A1A Cafe is right next to Bicentennial Park on A1A. The onion rings are awesome! According to my wife, the clam chowder was good but not the best she has ever had. The bacon cheeseburger with cheddar was out-of-this world good. It was easily in the top-10 list of best burgers that I have ever had out. It was a little greasy, but the toppings were all fresh, and the meat was flavorful and cooked exactly as ordered. The service was a little slow but extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a great view of the beach on the other side of A1A (see uploaded photo). That said, I'd come here for the burger more than the ambiance. The inside is decorated in a strange, Tahitian beach murals meets wood trim meets collections of mismatched angel figurines motif. I am all about the food, though, and so is Betty's. I am very glad to have a new regular pitstop along A1A.

Stopped for lunch on a Monday. We were seated promptly at a window seat with a view of the ocean. Awesome! The waitress took a drink order and mentioned their homemade meatloaf that was a Monday special. Had seen it on the sign out front so we both gave it a try. It was served with REAL mashed potatoes, not a mix. Also had carrots and brown gravy over the meatloaf and potatoes. Everything was excellent. Service was extremely fast. Try the banana delight for desert. What a pleasant surprise. Sliced banana with a custard filling on a perfect crust, topped with a cool whip type cream. Can't wait to stop here again.

Great view of the ocean, friendly staff that are willing to please!! Homemade soup sides and dessert all excellent..

Meh. Betty's was basically a diner for any one 65 and up. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but not suited for people who care much about their diet or tasty food. No breakfast served either which was a disappointment. I don't plan to go back.

We were staying in a condo on the beach and trying to save money made almost all of our meals in the condo. However we did venture out to two restaurants. We stopped here based on the reviews after a morning of para-sailing, and exploration at the Marine Science Center for a late lunch. None of us ordered the seafood, however the ladies at the table next to us ordered fried clams and they looked amazing. At our table of six we had three burgers, a chicken sandwich, a fish sandwich, regular fries, sweet fries, and onion rings. It was all great. If we had been eating out more we probably would have revisited Betty's A1A Cafe. Thanks for a great meal!

Excellent place!! We were only in area a couple of nights and were looking for a great seafood place. This place was a bit out of our way from Daytona Beach, but totally worth it! We ordered the sampler entree as an appetizer for the table- great selection of items! Everything we ordered was fresh and fantastic, including the pies! Would definitely recommend!

Betty's is outstanding for any Seafood you desire, but the Clam Chowder, Cod, Shrimp, scallops onion rings, Whole Belly Clams, fresh apple sauce(tastes like hot Apple Pie are "to die for"! don't miss it.

I have now lived just a mile or two from Betty's for a while. Yes I am from MA so perhaps a bit biased. The staff are exceptionally friendly even when busy. Betty herself is often involved one way or another. I have had the good fortune of agreeing to be seated with people we did not know only to have a truly great meal with delightful company. I think Betty actually asked us if we minded that night. I would sit with my worst enemy to get at the food as I have never had a bad meal there. I did enjoy having a waitress watch me eat New England style with both ketchup and malt vinegar on my fries and whole bellied fried clams. Anyone that claims strips are New England style clams probably also eats Manhattan style chowda as well. Although not many take advantage of the take out it is also an experience. Order a burger and find out what I mean, you will so enjoy!

Thank you Yelpers! this place was great. I had the impression oF an upscale diner from outside but it was very cutely decorated inside. Kids loved the undersea murals. Service was pretty fast but for the few minutes we waited, we played a great game of spy. The food was all made from scratch and the clam chowder is the best I've had South of Boston. Other highlights were the blackened scallops, fried shrimp, fried fish and the coleslaw. We finished the dinner with a really excellent slice of carrot cake. Let's not forget the $10 pitchers of draft Sam Adams. Overall a great experience and I would love to come back again. The only slight negative was our server seemed a bit miffed towards the end of our meal. it was 9 PM and I think she would have preferred to be done earlier. Despite this she was still professional and got us through the meal. Give it a try.

Great diner across from the ocean! Not only doe this place have an incredible view but the food is amazing. I had the daily special - crab encrusted salmon with loaded baked potato cakes - WOW! Not only was the food great but the staff was superb! Very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this place!

Tried this based on positive Yelp reviews. Excellent quality, preparation, and good sized portions. Clean environment. Will be back soon.

When we first went to Betty's it was great. Having dined there many times since, we have noticed that the trend is towards inconsistency. You never know what the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen will be. Too bad - when they're on their game, the food is first rate. However, you never know when that will be. I'm hesitant to try my luck again.

A fantastic Bacon cheeseburger!!! When we vacation in Ormond Beach, our family hits Bettys at least twice a week. The bacon cheeseburger is fantastic! It is large, juicy and delicious. By far the best burger in the Daytona area in our opinion. Their onion rings are delicious also. If you have any room in your stomach, get the Key Lime pie. It is kind of pricy but also very, very good. My only real knock on Bettys is the never ending Elvis Presley music. Apparently the owner likes Elvis. Me, not so much. I'd give the place 5 stars for the burger, rings, and pie but knock one off for the jailhouse rock.

The food was good, the portions were ok. I had the fried shrimp, it is advertised as "famous" and I wanted to see what the hubbub was about. I had the clam chowder, it was good. It was not thickened but sat it a base that you could tell was rich cream and butter. I found it a little different from what I was expecting, but in a good way. The shrimp were really good but I could have been happier with a couple more on the plate. The things that was the star of the show was the desserts. I was there with another adult and 4 kids so we got 3 desserts and shared them. The chocolate pie was ok, but the cherry cheesecake and coconut cream pie were fantastic. I would have rated my experience better had the portions been a little larger in the main dish category. Also, I had a real problem with our server. She seemed annoyed until the check came and then she turned on a last minute smile. She made faces when one kid wanted the fish fried and the other two things in the seafood trio broiled. Our smallest child was not feeling great and wanted some captain's wafers or club crackers, no one in the restaurant seemed to know what we meant and brought saltines and oyster crackers which added to the waitresses angst because we kept asking if they had them only to be brought the wrong kind on our second request by the manager. Chalk that up to confusion I suppose, yet her attitude during most of the meal was negative enough that the kids noticed as well. That was a real turn off but could have been an isolated incident.

We used to dine at this location years ago when it was Marco's, and the food was outstanding. This was meh... I ordered grilled scallops, as the waitress said they were large. They were bigger than bay scallops, but definitely not big, and not a lot of flavor. Husband got seafood cake and said it was pretty good. He had a problem with the potato (worm inside or really gross bad place; yuck) and a bug in his water. The food was ok; bread cost $1 extra, salad was an option as a side. Service was friendly. Probably won't go back.

I hate to be a killjoy with all the good reviews but my haddock dinner was just okay, loaded potato lukewarm and veges swimming in garlic oil that was not cooked well. The people were very friendly, service great too, and prices were fair but I would give a very low mark for ambience; like a step in time back to a country kitchen and you expect to see Opie come out. They played background music that was I'm not even sure, just horrible too. I might give it another try, but honestly with so many great choices around the Daytona/Ormond area, it doesn't stack up for my time and money. Sorry Betty

We ordered the Friday fish special, all you can eat. Asked the person next to it how it was, and in their opinion, great. Two of us ordered the special, and could barely eat it. The fish was very thin, it appeared they puffed up the batter and we could not improve the french fries even using ketchup. The waitress was surprised that we did not have another order. Another guest had a shrimp dinner, and they were also not impressed.

This place was hopping on a rainy Wednesday night. That, coupled with the mostly positive reviews on Yelp, I took as a great sign. Unfortunately, the meal wasn't. The clam chowder was the best thing I ate. I am no chowder snob, so maybe others may disagree. I thought it tasted like a chunky, warm, creamy, buttery vichyssoise with some decent pieces of clam in it. I got a half order of the scallops. They were recommended, by the server, to be fried. As this place seemed to be all about the frying, I, decided to try them that way even though I normally don't prefer them that way. Meh. Not a lot of flavor. The salad was alright, not remarkable. I got the honey mustard dressing which was made from yellow mustard. (I hate yellow mustard) And while our server was really nice and seemed to genuinely care about our experience, she wasn't available to switch out the dressing until our entrees arrived so, I just suffered through it. The all you can eat fish was flavorless too. (Yes my husband was warned that that was the item specifically mentioned as bad in a review) The fries were pretty good. The coleslaw was forgettable. The only thing that saved my scallops was cocktail sauce. Which I had for the last 3 I ate. The only reason I had 3 left to try it with was I just stopped eating while my husband finished his food. At least the cocktail sauce had some flavor. Realistically, I should give 2 stars. However, if they have a couple more items like the chowder, it could be a 3. I try to err on the side of caution. It could have been just an off night. (I don't really believe that though)

This place is across from my one of my favorite beaches! We actually stumbled in here on a whim one day when a storm blew in and the temperature plummeted to 78 degrees in the middle of June. That day we only had some chowder and beer, dessert and coffee, but the food and atmosphere was so great, we decided to come back on another night. When we did, we had no idea how popular of a place it was. The Friday night we came back the line was out the door and the place was full wall to wall... apparently a favorite of locals and tourists. Plenty more good reviews here to prove it... =)

I ate here a few times while visiting the area. The food was always consistently delicious and visually well prepared. The restaurant facility is impeccably clean everywhere. The servers that work here are all attentive and friendly and act like they have a vested interest in the operation of the restaurant. I had haddock here a couple of times and thought it was WAY better here than the other nearby Ormond Beach restaurant that seems to be so highly rated for seafood.

We stopped here for lunch today. Got the broiled haddock plate and the seafood cake (shrimp, scallops, haddock in a sauteed "cake"). Both were very good. Fries, very good. Sweet potato fries, best we've had. Homemade comeback sauce with the seafood cake. Homemade salad dressing. Both were good. Service was very good as were the facilities and the restaurant in general. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. As to the reviewer who complained about the ambiance, some folks should just stick to Olive Garden, I guess.

Great food and friendly staff. We drive over 90 miles at least once a year for a delicious lunch here. After the meal, cross A1A to the beach for a short stroll.

So, picture this - a guy from San Francisco driving up A1A after seeing an old friend in Orlando for the first time in 30 years and finding the best little cafe in the whole United States! Seriously, I was starved and just pulled in at the last minute. The wait staff was SO NICE. The view out the window at the thunderheads over the ocean was gorgeous. In fact, I uploaded a picture to Face Book while eating lunch and my California friends are still commenting on it. The food could have been crap and I wouldn't have cared much. But guess what? My burger and cole slaw was AMAZING! OMG! The cheddar cheese melted over the bacon on the leanest meat imaginable with garlic mayo and really fresh lettuce, pickles et al and I ate nearly all. OK, I won't tell the part about pulling over just south of St Augustine and passing out in the car in the heat with people in the parking lot disturbed by my snoring. Serendipity defined.

Fantastic! Believe the reviews. Betty's has creative, delicious seafood along with an outstanding waitstaff. If I could give this place six stars I would. Their fried shrimp appetizer was easily the best shrimp I've ever ate. The fried lobster seemed unusual, but perfectly executed. Whenever I come within 100 miles of Betty's I'll make the drive, because it will be worth it. The price was very reasonable too, which is an added bonus.
